CEF gives grants to 8 local schools | Collierville IndependentCollierville Independent

The Collierville Education Foundation’s Teacher Grant Program recently did an annual distribution of grants, with a new approach, equally dividing the $32,000-fund among eight public Collierville schools.

“Due to changes within the landscape of the educational system,” CEF President Molly Henderson said. “Our foundation approved an exception to the granting process. This was done to meet the basic instructional support needs of Collierville schools.”

The $32,000 allocated for teacher grants was dispersed with $3,000 to each of the eight Collierville schools for purchasing consumables (paper and ink) and an additional 20 $50 mini grants to each of the eight schools.

Schools include Bailey Station, Collierville, Crosswind, Sycamore, Tara Oaks, Collierville Middle, Schilling Farms Middle and Collierville High.

The Foundation raises funds in a variety of ways including contributions, corporate sponsorships, and the upcoming Bowl-A-thon set April 10; annual Drive for Education Golf Tournament and Classic Car and Bike Show, coordinated with the Collierville Police Dept.

The Foundation mission is to promote academic excellence, by providing educational opportunities over and above that which is funded by the regular school budget, with a goal of establishing endowments to ensure the continued support of Collierville Schools teachers with grants to promote academic excellence.
