Collierville Public Service crews on pothole patrol

While the snow has melted away, harsh winter conditions left an unfortunate mark on Collierville roads. When water seeps underneath streets and freezes, it causes an expanding and contracting process that creates potholes.
The Collierville Public Services Department has five crews in the Streets and Drainage Division continually working to keep Collierville roads safe and pothole free.
Using a piece of equipment called a Falcon asphalt heat wagon, cold asphalt mix is heated on site for more effective patching; the crews repair a hole within an average of five minutes. Since the start of 2015, a total of 1,250 potholes have been filled.
“In March alone we have already fixed 490 potholes,” said Clay Ticer, crew supervisor Senior of the Streets and Drainage Division. “As long as the weather cooperates, we will continue making repairs to the roadways.”
The Streets and Drainage Division of Collierville Public Services is responsible for the maintenance of approximately 680 lane-miles of roadway including pavement, curb, ditches, right-of-way litter collection, special projects and street signage.
To contact Public Services about street repair, please use the Mayor’s Action Center located on the Town’s homepage at collierville.com, or for a time-sensitive issue call 457-2222.
