Posted on July 10, 2014.
Halfway through 2014 Collierville continues to lead the local pack with regards to home sales.
According to the Memphis Area Association of Realtors, 537 Collierville houses have been sold this year, a 13-percent improvement over the previous year.
Excluding Memphis, sales in Collierville have been higher than every other Shelby County municipality by at least 90 houses. With 447 sales this year, Bartlett was the closest municipality. Germantown has seen 379 sales this year.
Collierville also has the highest median sales price ($295,000) in the county. Germantown is second at $285,000.
Perhaps most impressive is the number of new houses that have sold in Collierville this year.
To date, 77 new homes have been purchased for a median sales price of $370,000, representing a 22-percent increase over last year. No other suburban municipality in Shelby County has seen 70 new sales.
In fact, new home sales in Collierville represent nearly a quarter of all new sales in Shelby County through June.
Shelby County home sales were up five percent last month but remain down five percent on the year.
“The market’s heating up, right along with the weather,” said MAAR President Greg Glosson. “We’re ahead year-over-year in the major categories and monthly sales volume made a nice jump.”
Last month, 152 sales were recorded in Collierville, including 18 of the county’s 64 new sales.
Germantown and Bartlett saw 97 and 104 sales in June, respectively.
