Capturing the audiences’ and judges’ attention with a dynamic tap dance routine, University of Memphis junior Madison Snipes, 20, won the 2016 Miss Collierville title on Jan. 9 during the 21st annual Miss Collierville Scholarship Pageant at the Harrell Theatre. Snipes older sister previously held the title of Miss Collierville in 2008. They are the daughters of Daphne and Patrick Snipes.
Cara Grace Donaldson will serve as Collierville’s Outstanding Teen this year. She is a 16-year-old junior at Bolton High School who performed a gymnastics/tumbling routine for talent. She is the daughter of Chasity and Jerry Blackburn.
Snipes and Donaldson will serve as the town’s official youth ambassadors and make numerous public appearances during the next year. They received educational scholarships and will represent the Town of Collierville at the 2016 Miss Tennessee Scholarship Pageant and the 2016 Tennessee’s Outstanding Teen Pageant.
Co-sponsored by the Collierville Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department and the Miss Collierville Scholarship Organization, 10 area young women compete for the prestigious title by showcasing their talent, beauty and personality before a sell-out crowd at the Harrell Theatre. Educational scholarships totaling more than $3,400 were presented to this year’s contestants .
Scholarship sponsors of the 2016 Miss Collierville Scholarship Pageant included the Twentieth Century Club of Collierville, Patton Computers, Schilling Farms, Patriot Bank, the Silver Caboose, Harris Quon Auto Services, J&B Childress Photography, as well as a host of individuals and local businesses. Additional support was provided by the Collierville Arts Council.
Outgoing Miss Collierville 2015 Miranda Dyer was featured throughout the show and in several musical numbers, as well as the 2015 Outstanding Teen Christal Williamson. Collierville Mayor Stan Joyner thanked Dyer and Williamson for their incredible year of service to the Collierville community. Dyer and Williamson ended the show by thanking the many people of Collierville who has helped make her year of service so memorable, and gave a tearful farewell to her family and friends.
Kayli Webb, 17, a senior at St. George’s Christian School was named 1st alternate. Callie Compton, 20, a junior at the University of Memphis was named as 2nd Alternate . Somer Channell Smith, 15, a sophomore at St. Benedict at Auburndale was named as 1st Alternate for the teens, with Halle Trace, 14, receiving the 2nd Alternate teen position. Kayli Webb won the Miss Congeniality Award with the Teen Congeniality Award going to Hannah Minear, 16. Olivia Stephens, 13, was named as the Public Relations Winner for community support.
