Lady Dragons down Wooddale
The Collierville girls’ basketball team relied heavily on its defense Friday night to gain a 49-44 win against Wooddale at home. The Lady Dragons allowed only two points in the second period and ultimately capitalized on the Lady Cardinal’s turnovers and poor shooting. Both teams were neck and neck in the first period. However, the Lady Dragons used a 13-2 run before halftime to jump in front of Wooddale. While the Lady Cardinals put together back-to-back 14-point quarters in the second half, Collierville’s lead would prove too much to overcome. The Lady Dragons were led by senior Jessica Brown in the front court. She scored 16 points in the contest. Megan Loden added nine points. Collierville is now 7-11 on the season and scheduled to host rival Germantown (7-9) on Friday. The Lady Red Devils handed a very hot Houston team a loss last week thanks largely to senior guard Brittany Parmenter, who scored 17 points in the 50-48 Germantown win.
