Hitting the Hills

Collierville was canvassed with ice early Monday morning, making for dangerous driving conditions. “The cold temperatures have kept some roads covered with an icy glaze. Salt trucks will continue to be out across the county treating roads,” said Dale Lane, director of the Shelby County Office of Preparedness. On Tuesday, Shelby County Public Works added two road graders to the effort make the streets safer. “The graders will help remove slush before it can refreeze. Our priority is to keep these road graders on the main roads in the unincorporated areas,” said Tom Needham, director of Shelby County Public Works. As of Tuesday, Memphis Light, Gas and Water reported very few power outages within Shelby County. Collierville Schools were closed on Tuesday and Wednesday.
