Dragons fall to Houston on Homecoming night

The Collierville boys’ basketball team lost a triple overtime heartbreaker 77-75 Friday at home against rival Houston High School. Senior forward Brett Warner turned in his best game of the season, pacing the Dragons with 30 points. Senior Drews Andrews (pictured) chipped in 12 points. Collierville jumped out to a 23-21 lead in the first quarter. However, the Mustangs charged back in the second quarter to take a 39-38 lead into the half. Houston was paced by Marlon Hunter’s 27 points. Both teams traded baskets to open the second half until. The Dragons used an 8-7 run in the final minutes of the game to force the first overtime. After exchanging baskets in the first two extra periods, Houston used a 7-5 to eventually put Collierville away. The Dragons are now 15-8 on the season and 4-5 in district play. Collierville will host Wooddale Friday night.
