Collierville wallops Wooddale

The Collierville High School varsity football team won its third straight game Friday behind an electric offensive performance.
The Dragons defeated Wooddale 46-8 at home and amassed more than 400 yards of total offense in the process.
Collierville scored early and often in the contest, racking up 25 unanswered points before the Cardinals finally got on the scoreboard in the second quarter.
The first two Dragon touchdowns came courtesy of long passes thrown by starting quarterback Clay Casey. The junior first hooked up with Hastin Witt for a 35-yard touchdown. Junior Caleb Williams was next, scoring from 73 yards out.
The Dragons scored again before the end of the first quarter on a 10-yard dash by senior running back Eric Jefferson.
Collierville picked up where it left off in the second on another Casey pass, this time caught by sophomore Cameron Doyle.
Wooddale scored its first and only points of the game on a 13-yard pass from quarterback Brandon Robinson to Shimar Willis.
However, the Dragons scored again before the half on a 12-yard pass from Casey to sophomore Drew Van de Vuurst.
Casey finished the game with 192 passing yards. He completed 50 percent of his passes.
After a 9-yard touchdown run in the third quarter from senior running back Andy Paton, Collierville proved that every part of its team was performing at a high level when Van de Vuurst returned a 60-yard punt.
The Dragons will travel to 6-3 Ridgeway on Friday. The Roadrunners, ranked 54 in the state, most recently knocked off Germantown 42-39.
