Do you canoe, kayak or raft? Have you been thinking about it, but don’t know where to start? Would you like to fish along the Wolf River, or take a walk with your kids? If so, the Wolf River Conservancy wants to hear from you. On April 23, the Wolf River Conservancy will have a community input session from 5-7 p.m. at Collierville Town Hall, 500 Poplar View Parkway, as part of its Wolf River Boat Launch Access Study. The purpose of the Wolf River Boat Launch Access Study is to increase the use and enjoyment of the Wolf River, provide opportunities to participate in outdoor recreation activities, improve safety in and around the River and improve and enhance connectivity with green spaces and trail networks in the area. Community input is an important part of the Study because the WRC wants to ensure that any improvements it makes will meet the needs of paddlers of all ages and skill levels and will make the Wolf River a more accessible and enjoyable asset in Shelby and Fayette counties. The meeting will be in an open house format, with a brief presentation and four activity stations to gather information on how the Wolf River is being used and what people would like to see in the future. For more information, contact Marie Branch, WRC Special Project Coordinator, at 603-9904 or [email protected], or visit the WRC website at wolfriver.org.

Young Life doesn’t start with a program. It starts with adults concerned enough about kids to go to them, on their turf and in their culture, building bridges of authentic friendship. Collierville Young Life oversees club minstries for Collierville High, St. George’s, St. George’s Middle and a shared club for Collerville Middle and Schilling Farms Middle. You can support the mission of this great organization by playing in the annual Skudder Family Collierville Young Life Golf Tournament on April 28 at Memphis National Golf Club. The tournament begins with a box lunch at noon, followed by a shotgun start at 1 p.m. The cost is $125 per golfer, and you can register as a single player or as a foursome. Sponsorship opportunities are also available.
