22 CHS swimmers qualify for state

The Collierville High School swim team qualified the most swimmers ever for state with 22. The showing led to an 8th place finish for the boys, an 11th place finish for the girls, and 6th place combined. Collierville finished ahead of all other Shelby County schools, public and private. Notable performances were: Josh Walsh – 4th in the 200 free and 5th in the 100 free; Sean Kirwan – 6th in the 200 IM and 5th in the 100 fly; Caelan Douglas – 10th in the 100 breast; and Erin Kelly – 12th in the 50 free and 9th in the 100 free. The highest finish was the girls’ 200 free relay (Caitlin Cagna, Abby Bowers, Morgan Steffey and Erin Kelly) who place 3rd. Other relays include: boys’ 200 free (4th place); girls’ 400 free (7th place); and boys’ 400 free (8th place). Each of these relays also broke team records. Coach Justin Ingram summed up the season. “We had an outstanding season. I am very happy for our swimmers.
