Site plan approved for new Orgill corporate headquarters

By Graham Sweeney

The Collierville Board of Mayor and Aldermen has approved a development agreement for a 4-story office building that will house Orgill Corporate Headquarters.

The 121,600-square-foot building will be constructed on 12 acres at 4100 S. Houston Levee Road, north of Bailey Station Road.

Board members unanimously approved the final site plan Monday night during their regularly scheduled meeting.

Orgill decided last year to move its corporate headquarters from Germantown.

Orgill’s office currently is at 3742 Tyndale near Forest Hill-Irene and Winchester, around three miles from the new site.

Last November, the town approved a 15-year Payment In Lieu of Taxes (PILOT) for Orgill, Inc., for a 75-percent abatement in property taxes.

Construction will begin this year and the building could be completed by 2018.

Initially, only the first three floors will be completed, leaving the fourth floor for future “build out.”

Orgill will employ an estimated 380 workers in the new building, which will be accessed from Houston Levee Road, with two curb cuts allowing access to the site. The project is estimated to add 970 average daily trips to Houston Levee.

According to Nancy Boatwright, assistant town planner, the exterior of the building will be almost entirely dark red brick, with the facades broken up horizontally and bands of lighter accent brick.

Founded in Memphis in 1847, Orgill, Inc. is the world’s largest independently owned hardlines distributor providing retailers across North America and in more than 60 countries throughout the world access to over 75,000 products.
