McCord wins Collierville Talent Show

Mary Helen McCord of Collierville captured the winner’s trophy in the senior division of the 2016 Collierville Youth Talent Show, with Camden Francavilla of Bartlett taking the junior division.
The event, an official preliminary to the prestigious Mid-South Fair Youth Talent Show, was held on July 31 at the Harrell Theatre and sponsored by the Collierville Arts Council.

McCord, who sang a ballad titled “She Used To Be Mine” will proceed to the Mid-South Fair Youth Talent Contest this September. Isabella Biana-Reno of Bartlett was first runner up with her piano solo and Katy Cotton of Germantown was second runner up in the senior division with a vocal performance.
Francavilla, who sang the memorable show tune “Don’t Rain ON My Parade” will also compete in the Junior Davison of the Mid-South Fair Youth Talent Contest. Taking home runner up honors for the junior division was Gracie Wilkinson of Arlington with tap solo and Hasitha Ramanathan of Collierville with a vocal solo.

The annual talent contest is open for youth ages 9-21 from thoughout Collierville, Shelby County and the Mid-South. Hosting this year’s event were Miss Collierville 2016 Madison Snipes and Collierville’s Outstanding Teen Cara Grace Donaldson.
The Collierville Arts Council is dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in performing, visual and musical arts. Their mission is to develop, promote and coordinate the arts to all citizens in Collierville and surrounding areas by advancing and strengthening community bonds through interest in the arts.
