Deputies fire on man holding knife in Cordova

Two Shelby County Sheriff’s deputies reportedly shot a man holding a knife early Thursday afternoon near A & H Iron Works in Cordova.

The 46-year-old man, Edmond Studdard, was still alive when transported to the Regional Medical Center.

Agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation are investigating the incident.

The shooting occurred west of Houston Levee in an industrial park on Big Orange Road.

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office received a report Thursday afternoon that a man was driving recklessly and was involved in a hit-and-run at Macon Road and Big Orange Road.

Deputies responded and saw Studdard walking down the street with a knife. It is unclear how many times Studdard was shot.
