Repair work began Monday on the levee along the northwest side of Grove Park Lake, 1610 Hearty Oaks Lane.
Greenway trail pedestrian traffic will be blocked along the eastern rim of the lake from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day while work is in progress. The playground area will not be affected by the construction.
Construction traffic will utilize Johnson Road and Dogwood Creek to access the park. Work is scheduled to be complete by early August.

JULY 9
Drop by the Collierville Burch Library from 2-5 p.m. on July 9 to unwind during the Adult Coloring program. Relax as you color and listen to calming music. We will provide a variety of coloring sheets and colors, but feel free to bring your own.

The Collierville Board of Mayor and Aldermen will meet at 6 p.m. on July 11 at Town Hall.

The Collierville Burch Library will host a Guided Meditation session at 7 p.m. on July 12. Guided Meditation Facilitator April Doyle Bay will instruct the session in the Storytelling Room.

The Germantown Community Library will host Animal Tales presents Nature’s Olympians at 7 p.m. on July 12.
Meet exotic animals from around the world that utilize unique abilities to compete and survive in the wild. Be prepared to get up-close and personal learning about these very competitive creatures. Animals include a basilisk, wallaby, python and more. Pre-registration is required.

JULY 14
More than 800 children spend time in foster care in Shelby County every year. Youth Villages is in need of foster parents. Youth Villages is hosting a free foster parent training on July 14 at 6 p.m. and also on July 16 at 10 a.m. at the Youth Villages office at 5515 Shelby Oaks Drive.
The training is open to anyone interested in becoming a foster or adoptive parent through Youth Villages. To register for the training, please call Tiffany Dickerson at 252-5000, ext. 1290.

Movie Mania continues at Carriage Crossing in Collierville. The event features complimentary outdoor family-friendly movies every other Friday night through September.
Movies begin at dusk. Bring chairs or blankets. Located inside Central Park.

The Germantown Library will host an Ugly Holiday Sweater Party for 13-to-18-year-olds on July 16.
Celebrate the holidays in style by turning an old sweater into a masterpiece. Bring an old sweater and decorate it until it becomes a truly awful creation.
Participants will vote on the “ugliest holiday sweater.”

SEPTEMBER 10
Bring your four legged friends to a community pool pawty for dogs and their people on Sept. 10 at the YMCA at Schilling Farms in Collierville.
Entry is $15 per dog per session benefiting the Collierville Animal Shelter. There are two swim sessions: noon to 1:30 p.m. is for small dogs 25 pounds and under and 2-3:30 p.m. is open to all dogs.
Open to the community. Tickets may be purchased ahead of time at the Collierville Animal Shelter and you will receive a doggie goodie bag.
