Billings named interim fire chief

With the retirement of Collierville Fire Chief Jerry Crawford effective Feb. 29, Town Administrator James Lewellen has named Buddy Billings interim fire chief.
Billings has been with the Collierville Fire Department for more than 37 years and has served for over 22 years as chief of fire prevention.
Billings has been responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Fire Marshal’s Office which also includes: Code Inspection, Investigation, and Public Education.
Collierville has begun a search process to fill the vacancy left by Crawford.
“Chief Billings’ background in Fire Department operations will be a valued asset during this time of transition within the Fire Department.” said Lewellen. “The experience Chief Billings has in both managing operations and providing leadership to the firefighters will provide assurance that the Fire Department will continue to function with responsiveness and professionalism while the Board conducts a search to fill the vacant Fire Chief position.”
