Taylor Stamps was the Grand Marshal of the annual Collierville Christmas Parade on Friday. For many years, Stamps has participated in the parade, usually driving an Army jeep from his collection. During this year’s event, he led the parade as thousands of residents enjoyed the tinkle of Christmas bells and the laughter of children watching marching bands, floats, boy and Girl Scout troops and much more. The parade route traveled down Collierville’s Byhalia Road from Market Street to Frank Road. Known for his commitment to community service and keen interest in Collierville heritage, Stamps is always quick with fun comments, a big grin and often a warm hug. A Collierville resident since his birth in 1936, Stamps is past recipient of the H.R. Houston Award from Leadership Collierville, the Collierville Chamber of Commerce’s Person of the Year and the Spirit of Giving award from Main Street Collierville. Past president of The Citizens Bank, he previously owned and operated Stamps Motor Company. Taylor and wife, Kay (pictured above), are parents of sons Ty and Stephen and grandparents to Benjamin, Samuel and Evelyn Grace. After playing ‘Scrooge’ for many past Christmas in Collierville Holiday events, he was glad to turn in that costume and smile all through the Christmas Parade as Grand Marshal.
