Two new subdivisions approved by town board

The Collierville Board of Mayor and Aldermen has approved plans for residential construction in two new subdivisions: The Villas of Tara Oaks, which will be located at the southeast intersection of Harper’s Ferry Road and Collierville-Arlington Road, and The Chadwick Subdivision, a 7.84-acre section of the Bailey Station Planned Development.
The site of the future Villas of Tara Oaks has been rezoned for residential use as opposed to commercial use, and to allow for smaller residential sized lots. However, even with the rezoning, the lots will be unique for a residential development because of the configuration of the lots. They will average about 8,000 square feet as opposed to the usual 6,000 square feet allowed for residential construction.
Also, there is an existing retail strip within the development that will be allowed to remain a part of the plan. The Villas of Tara Oaks will have 29 lots, two cul de sacs and three landscaped common open spaces.
Collierville Mayor Stan Joyner pointed out that this particular piece of property has seen many possible development plans, including ones for both apartment and commercial use.
“The Villas of Tara Oaks development is the absolute best plan I have ever seen proposed for this piece of property,” he noted.
The Chadwick Subdivision is the new name for a section of the already developed Baily Station Planned Development. This subdivision will hold 33 residential lots and allow for no commercial or retail businesses. The community will be gated, and is specifically designed for senior residents.
Like the land approved for The Villas of Tara Oaks, the site for The Chadwick Subdivision has been rezoned for residential use as opposed to commercial use.
“I’m glad to see developers bringing new quality residential subdivisions before us,” said Alderman Maureen Fraser. “This will give homebuilders new lots to build quality homes and continue to infuse the local economy.”
