The Germantown Board of Mayor and Aldermen approved contracts for the first two businesses in the Thornwood Development at the corner of Germantown and Neshoba Roads.
Board members voted Monday night on project development contracts for Bob Richards Jewelry and a Hampton Inn hotel during their regularly scheduled semi-monthly meeting.
The 5-story hotel will consist of 106 rooms on the east side of Germantown Road.
The 2-story, 5,000-square-foot retail jewelry store will feature 25 parking spaces on the east and south sides of the building.
Approval of the contracts allows developers to complete construction plans for the actual development of the projects.
Originally placed on the Aug. 24 agenda, the items were deferred and moved to the consent portion of the Sept. 14 meeting.
Alderman Forrest Owens addressed the developers regarding the delay.
“We appreciate your business in the city,” he said, “and you being patient with us. We had a little delay for you, but thank you for developing in our city.”
