The Collierville Board of Mayor and Aldermen will consider an ordinance on first reading Monday that would impose a $5 fee for every traffic citation that results in a guilty plea.
Four dollars of the proposed fee will be maintained in a special revenue account for the sole purpose of developing and operating an electronic traffic citation system.
The remaining dollar will be retained by the Collierville Court Clerk and used for computer hardware purchases.
If passed, the ordinance would be in effect for only five years.

The store will sell craft beer for off-premise consumption. The town’s Beer Board approved a beer license for the business last month, contingent on the Board of Mayor and Aldermen’s approval.
