The Collierville Board of Mayor and Aldermen has granted a request from a local car rental business to allow more passenger vehicles on the property.
Board members approved a conditional use permit Monday night for Enterprise Rent-A-Car at 1990 W. Poplar, allowing the business to store 20 cars, 10 more than were previously permitted on the site.
“An increase in the number of vehicles is being requested because the frequency of requests for a large number of vehicles by corporate customers has increased,” said Nancy Boatwright, assistant town planner. “As have seasonal demands.”
Last month, the town’s Planning Commission recommended the increase with several conditions.
“(Town) staff has been monitoring the site for compliance and will continue to do so for the duration of the 60-day time limit imposed by the Planning Commission,” Boatwright said.
Boatwright said that more than 20 vehicles have been seen parked at the business in recent weeks.
“Regardless of whether or not the amendment to the conditional use permit is approved,” she said, “continued failure to comply with the limitation on vehicle storage shall result in a citation to municipal court.”
Some of the conditions include:
• Vehicle repair and maintenance is not permitted on site.
• Rental vehicles are limited to passenger cars.
• No more than 20 cars can be stored on the site.
The permit can be revoked if the business does not comply with all of the conditions.
